I wanted to start this week's blog by thanking everyone for being so incredible about all of the covid protocols.  Everyone's attention to the all of the rules and procedures and the students' understanding has allowed us to function like a somewhat normal classroom.  

This week in Science, our Waste in Our World unit continued looking at the food Chain.  We explored the Sun's role in the the food chain and where producers, consumers, and decomposers participate.  The students have used an online program called Kahoot to review and test their knowledge.  Ask them about Kahoot. 


In Literacy, the grade 4s have put themselves into the shoes of a pumpkin in a pumpkin patch.  They are creating a descriptive/persuasive essay to convince potential buyers not to buy them.  They are expanding upon three flaws with their pumpkins that might save them from becoming a jack-o-lantern this halloween.



The Grade 4s showed their persistence with an open ended addition questions.  In small groups, they were tasked with finding a solution to the following question:
